Hospital-employed, outpatient-focused role

Position Overview

A well-established hospital in Far Rockaway, Queens is seeking a Rheumatologist to join its expanding specialty care team. This is a high-impact opportunity to provide comprehensive rheumatologic care to a diverse, underserved patient population within a supportive, hospital-employed model. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, patient-centered, and motivated to build long-term community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of rheumatologic conditions, including:
     
    • Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, vasculitis, and connective tissue disorders
  •  Provide longitudinal outpatient rheumatology care with limited inpatient consults (if applicable)
  • Develop and oversee treatment plans including biologics and infusion coordination
  • Collaborate with Primary Care, Orthopedics, Nephrology, and other specialists
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient education

  • Outpatient-dominant rheumatology practice
  • High demand and established referral base

  • Strong ancillary and administrative support

Skills

Candidate Qualifications (Non-Negotiables)

✔ MD or DO from an accredited medical school
 ✔ Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology
 ✔ Eligible for or holding an active New York State Medical License
✔ DEA registration or eligibility
✔ Excellent clinical judgment and patient communication skills
✔ Commitment to serving a diverse, urban patient population

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hospital-employed or community-based practice
  • Interest in treating complex, chronic rheumatologic disease
  • Multilingual skills a plus (reflective of Far Rockaway’s population)
