Position Summary

The General Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients with a broad range of mental health conditions. This role focuses on evidence-based medication management, ongoing clinical oversight, and collaborative care within a multidisciplinary team to support patient stability and long-term wellness.

Key Responsibilities

Perform psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and mental status examinations.
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
Provide ongoing care for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
Collaborate with therapists, nurses, social workers, and primary care providers to coordinate patient care.
Document assessments, treatment plans, and clinical decisions in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Offer crisis intervention and support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.
Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric practices and emerging treatment modalities.
Provide consultation to medical staff regarding psychiatric diagnoses, medications, and treatment strategies.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient safety standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Active and unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility).
DEA registration with appropriate schedules.
Strong diagnostic, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
Experience in inpatient, outpatient, or integrated behavioral health settings preferred.

Work Environment
