We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide ongoing locum coverage in central Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established cardiac surgery program with strong specialty support.

Position Details

Ongoing part-time coverage
Approximately 9–12 shifts per month
Typical coverage consists of long weekend blocks (Thursday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM)
Additional coverage needed for vacations, holidays, and scheduled physician leave
24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
Full specialty support available, including:
- Vascular Surgery
- Electrophysiology
- Interventional and Non-Invasive Cardiology
- Interventional Radiology
- Trauma Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
APP support available weekdays
No APP coverage on weekends or holidays
Minimal inpatient and overnight surgical emergencies
Rare urgent dissections or emergent operative cases
Weekend and holiday calls routed directly to the covering physician
EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

Inpatient rounding
Cardiac surgery cases
Clinic responsibilities
Call coverage
Patient admissions and consults
Order entry and discharges during weekend coverage

Typical cardiac procedures include:

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)

Additional exposure includes TAVR procedures and TAVR clinic coverage.

Requirements

Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Active Pennsylvania License or IMLC eligibility
Minimum 2 years of experience
ACLS and BLS certifications
DEA required
