Position Overview:
We are seeking a General Surgeon for locum holiday coverage in Colorado. This is a call-only assignment—no office visits or scheduled elective surgeries. The surgeon will provide coverage for emergency department consults and general rural surgical procedures that present during the week of coverage.

We are seeking a General Surgeon for locum holiday coverage in Colorado. This is a call-only assignment—no office visits or scheduled elective surgeries. The surgeon will provide coverage for emergency department consults and general rural surgical procedures that present during the week of coverage.
Scope of Work:
- Provide Level IV trauma surgical consults in the ED
- Perform general rural surgery procedures (falls, motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, gallbladder, appendix, agricultural injuries, occasional hunting injuries)
- Must perform diagnostic & therapeutic upper endoscopies and colonoscopies
- Excludes vascular, bariatric, thoracic surgery, major burns, head bleeds, stroke, and spinal injuries (transferred to trauma centers as needed)
- Collaborate with the 24/7 hospitalist program for post-op and inpatient management
- Call is cell-phone based; housing available in furnished apartment near the hospital
Requirements:
- Board Certified in General Surgery
- Experience with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies
- Comfortable practicing independently in a busy rural hospital setting
- Must be able to obtain EPCS (Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances) access
- EMR experience preferred; Meditech training provided
