The VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist for a long-term contract opportunity providing comprehensive anesthesiology services in a hospital-based setting.
Scope of Care:
The contracted physician will provide full-scope Anesthesiology services, including but not limited to:
- Clinical anesthesiology care in the operating room and procedural areas
- On-time physical presence for all scheduled clinics and surgeries
- Anesthesia services for cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic procedures
- Coverage for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiology lab, gastrointestinal, and radiology suites
- Primary coverage for patients in the surgical intensive care unit and short-stay unit
- Acute and chronic pain management services
- Diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for medical and surgical patients
- Emergency airway management
- Bedside and clinic-based consultative services as appropriate
Medication Management:
- Follow all established VA medication policies and procedures
- No sample medications permitted
Skills
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state)
- DEA registration
- Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
